Sebelumnya kita sudah pernah membahas perbandingan mengenai Lee 101Z dan Lee 101B, kini saatnya kita membandingkan kedua produk dari Lee yang satu ini, Lee 101S dan Lee 101Z. Kedua jeans yang akan kita bandingkan kali ini memiliki detail dan cut yang hampir sama, hanya saja dari sejarahnya, Lee 101S merupakan jeans slim fit pertama dari Lee, sementara Lee 101Z merupakan jeans pertama yang menggunakan zipper. Kita akan mencoba membahas perbedaan dan persamaan apalagi yang dimiliki oleh kedua model populer dari Lee ini.
Seperti yang sudah kita ketahui, Lee 101Z merupakan model Lee pertama yang menggunakan zipper fly, bahkan bisa dibilang bahwa Lee 101Z adalah jeans pertama di dunia yang memakai zipper. Lee model ini terkenal dengan model slim straight fitnya yang sering kita lihat diiklankan dan dipopulerkan oleh artis Hollywood ternama pada jamannya seperti James Dean.
Lee 101S adalah jeans slim fit pertama yang dikeluarkan oleh Lee. Legendanya jeans ini pertama kali dikeluarkan karena salah satu Rodeo Champion terkenal bernama Turk Greenough menginginkan celana jeans Lee-nya memiliki cutting yang lebih slim, seperti halnya celana-celana yang dibuat oleh tailor. Mulai dari celana Turk-lah, celana Lee dengan cut slim fit menjadi idaman para koboi dan tetap dipertahankan sampai sekarang.
We already know that Lee 101Z is famous for their use of zipper fly, and we can probably say that this is the first jeans model to use a zipper fly in the world. This model is famous with its slim straight classic cut which we can see them popularized by Hollywood artist like James Dean.
Lee 101S is the first slim fit jeans for Lee. The legend says that this jeans was made by request of a popular Rodeo Champion at the time, Turk Greenough who wanted a slim cut jeans that fits like a wallpaper in the wall, just like pants made by tailor. From that time on, this slim cut jeans from Lee is a favorite for cowboys and still popular in modern time.
In terms of detail, these two jeans got plenty in common. We compare the europe version of both jeans and found that both use a relatively similar fabric which is a LHT fabric in a pretty much same color. From the construction point of view, these jeans also has similar looks, from the double felled inseam to the 2 stitching on the waistband lower part. The leather patch also using the same EU leather patch, with a white Lee stencil on top of it.
The main difference should be in the cutting. Lee 101Z got a more classic slim straight cut, while Lee 101S has a more modern slim fit look on it, compared to the 101z. Some part of the jeans is also different, like the coin pocket and backpocket size, but they’re not really significant. The most visible differences is of course the use of fastener. Lee 101S use a button fly, while 101Z use the faithful zipper fly.
